This will be my final blog post for Dice mt100 module for this year.
At this conference we had to present our app idea posters to judges from the various Computing industries, while also attending the Get Digital seminar, which was based entirely on Cloud Computing as Dcu hosts the Centre of Cloud Computing on campus.
Theo Lynn introduced and addressed the audience once again in regards to cloud computing and what dcu strive to achieve in the future. Theo informed the group in this manner as visitors of the university also attend this event.
As Dcu has the National centre of cloud computing on campus which
Helping multi national companies such as Intel while also helping Small indigenous businesses.

Our first speaker was Professor Martin Curely who is the VP of Intel Europe, he talked about how cloud computing is slowly but surely becoming more common and maybe in a few years time we may put “our life in the cloud”.
He spoke of the changes through computing and the most important aspects were sustainability, digital transformation and mass collaboration. He defined these as the three colliding trends, which will « reshape the future of industry and society »
Intel has a close alliance with other multi nationals such as BMW.Healthcare and energy industries are to be believed to be transformed by the cloud in the near future
Everyone knows that we are becoming a more resourced based society, as we use 3.2 billion of the earths world resources yearly which unfortunately means that there is no “planet b” as such, instead we should make a much more attractable vision of the future realistically.
Moore’s law is continuing is to drive innovation and creativity but using technology. Transformation of music by apple or kindle by Amazon has created a more sustainable environment.
Secondly spoke Constantine he discussed Cloud Computing in regards to its economics. He described it as a platform for disembodied services. Also implying that has been with us before its time.
He told us that over time the demand and growth for cloud computing would be further and further developed. However I found this subject uninteresting,
I couldn’t really relate much to it as he used much jargon. Yet, he stated that little services are performed through the cloud at the moment and people have little trust in it right now. We feel it is still risky not proven itself enough, however private cloud specialists are overcoming these issues.
Thirdly Claire Dillon from Microsoft asked the audience how many devices are connected in your home? I counted we had 14 yet I may have still missed some! This great genious is thanks to modern the computing and the way we live today. I found her contribution most appealing as she talked about the changes as we a society face on a day-to-day basis.
Computing is now widespread thing we all understand that. However it is in the context that we the consumers must be able to comprehend, that data can be used for working and experiences are now becoming highly engaging and entertaining with the use of the cloud. In reality the cloud is everywhere to that, A vision of the future?
The speed at which people come up with the idea is so rapid. It is claimed cloud will grow four times faster than technology ever did. However there are many drawbacks, yet firms are working on these issues to drive the future of cloud computing.

Fergus Gloster – MD Marketo International brought salesforce.com to IrelandWorking in Marketing automation software.He has been involved with the cloud since 2000.The current sales and marketing model has become obsolete at worst its totally dysfunctional.
The way the buyer’s process has transformed, now there is info abundance.Marketing has a much greater role to build demand and be accountable for those affectedData bases which are designed to enable a firm to see the process of a potential buyer i.e. tracking or social engagement
All in all, dice has been an incredible experience. However it is true to say that from time to time I found it difficult to comprehend the subject. This module has however opened my eyes. I know understand slightly better how modern technology is becoming an increasing role as part of our daily routine and we must go with it. The module enabled me to acquire the new skills such as of creating an app or even formatting a poster. It has been a thoroughly enjoyable experience nonetheless some conferences were more appealing to others.
